Tarptent is a growing outdoor brand designing ultralight, innovative tents that allow you to sleep anywhere. Tarptent belongs to the legends of ultralight equipment and has been on the market since 1999 when the first tent was sewn by Henry Shires who made it for himself on the Pacific Crest Trail. About Tarptent
Tarptent is one of the founding names of the ultralight shelter world. Founder Henry Shires - a physics teacher turned tent designer - hand-sewed the very first Tarptent in 1999 for his thru-hike of the Pacific Crest Trail, then launched tarptent.com in 2002 with his wife and co-owner Cynthia. More than two decades later it is still a family-run, direct-to-consumer company, beloved for shelters that are light, stable, surprisingly roomy, sensibly priced, and backed by genuinely great customer service. The line spans the easy-pitching arch-pole Rainbow series, the patented offset-pole StratoSpire, the double-wall Dipole, and four-season designs like the Scarp and freestanding ArcDome - available in silicone-coated polyester or ultralight Dyneema and Ultra fabrics. Designed in the USA and refined over more than twenty years of thru-hiker feedback, Tarptents are trusted on long trails all over the world.
