DESCRIPTION
TARPTENT Double Rainbow DW Li - is the double-wall version of the patented and multi-award-winning Double Rainbow Li, and Tarptent's lightest double-wall arch pole supported two-person tent. Designed for versatility and simplicity, at just over one kilogram it is ideal for an overnight trip or a thru-hike of the PCT.
While it is an obvious continuation of the Tarptent Rainbow series, it is among the very few arch pole supported, double-walled DCF shelters in existence. Made with Dyneema® Composite Fabric and fully factory seam taped, this ultralight 2-person Dyneema tent needs no seam sealing and is ready to pitch straight out of the bag.
It's wide enough for two wide sleeping pads - fits two sleeping pads up to 63.5cm / 25 inch wide each, and users up to 1.98 m / 6 ft 6 in tall. Just like the Double Rainbow it can be pitched in freestanding mode with the use of two trekking poles, or the poles can be placed under the top crossing pole for additional structural support in wind or under snow load. "Porch mode" provides a large covered space in front of the doors, perfect for cooking or staying out of the sun and rain.

Tarptent Double Rainbow DW Li FAQ
Does the Double Rainbow DW Li require seam sealing?
No. The Double Rainbow DW Li is made with Dyneema® Composite Fabric and is fully factory seam taped, so it is fully waterproof from the factory and ready to use straight out of the bag - no seam sealing needed.
Do I need trekking poles for this tent?
No. Trekking poles are not required for a normal pitch. They can be used to make the tent freestanding, or placed under the top crossing pole to provide additional structural support in wind or under snow load.
Can the Double Rainbow DW Li be freestanding?
Yes. Two trekking poles or substitute poles can be used to make it freestanding. Poles need to extend to at least 140 cm / 55 in, and 145 cm / 57 in works best. Shorter poles from 127 cm / 50 in can be used with trekking pole tip extenders.
Can I stuff this tent into my backpack?
We highly recommend folding and/or rolling the tent rather than stuffing it, to extend the lifespan of the Dyneema® fabric. The pole set is easily packed separately.
Are there additional tie-out points for extra staking?
Yes. There are additional pullouts on the arch sleeve and along the side seams, which add stability in strong wind.
Is this tent suitable for tall people?
Yes. The Double Rainbow DW Li is recommended for users up to 1.98 m / 6 ft 6 in tall, with a 224 cm / 88 in floor length and 102 cm / 40 in of interior height.
Do I need a groundsheet with the Double Rainbow DW Li?
Maybe. The 15D quadruple ripstop nylon floor is more durable than most ultralight tent floors, but a groundsheet is recommended on highly abrasive or sharp ground, such as sandstone or sharp rocks.
Which pole type should I choose?
Carbon fiber poles are exceptionally light but the most flexible option, best for moderate conditions where weight is the priority. DAC 9.3 NFL poles are heavier, stiffer and more durable, and are recommended for most users as a good balance of weight, stiffness and durability. DAC 10.65 PL poles are the heaviest but stiffest and strongest, recommended if you expect extreme wind or snow loading.
How do I avoid condensation in this tent?
All tents suffer from condensation in the right conditions, but you can limit it. Avoid camping overnight in cool, damp spots such as river valleys, meadows, marshes and next to water. If possible choose an elevated site with a bit of a breeze, preferably under a tree canopy. The double-wall construction with a partial solid interior also keeps you separated from any condensation on the fly.
What is the difference between the Double Rainbow DW Li and the Double Rainbow DW?
Both share the same design, dimensions and double-wall layout. The Li version uses Dyneema® Composite Fabric for the fly and a 15D nylon floor, bringing typical weight down to 1072 g and removing the need for seam sealing. The sil-poly Double Rainbow DW uses 20D polyester and a 30D nylon floor - heavier at 1222 g, but less expensive and more abrasion resistant.
