DESCRIPTION

Zpacks Plex Solo Pro Tent

The Plex Solo Pro is the ultimate shelter for weight-conscious hikers who want to push their limits without sacrificing performance or comfort. Compared to the Classic version, the Pro adds several practical upgrades, including fully zippered storm doors, a peak vent for improved airflow and reduced condensation, Double-L mesh door zippers for easier access, and magnetic toggles for more convenient door management. These features make the tent easier to use in everyday trail conditions, provide better ventilation, and offer improved protection during windy or rainy weather. While the Pro version is slightly heavier, the weight increase is minimal compared to the added comfort and convenience. If you prefer a lighter, more minimalist shelter, check out the Plex Solo Classic.

Small Footprint, Big Performance

One of the biggest advantages of the Plex Solo Pro is its compact footprint. The tent can squeeze into the tightest backcountry campsites where larger shelters simply will not fit — a real benefit on ridgelines, in forests, and on heavily used trails where flat ground is scarce.
The interior space is best suited for hikers up to around 6' (183 cm) tall. As with any tent featuring sloped walls, thicker sleeping pads, especially high-profile inflatable winter pads, will slightly reduce the usable interior length and headroom. Taller hikers should consider the Altaplex Pro for more head and foot room.

Superior Ventilation and Weather Protection

The integrated peak vent works together with perimeter mesh ventilation to maximize airflow throughout the shelter. During warm nights, both storm doors can be rolled back independently and secured with magnetic toggles to create an open, airy shelter with panoramic views.
When weather conditions deteriorate, simply close one or both zippered storm doors for full 360-degree protection from wind and rain. The recessed bathtub floor and enclosed mesh interior help keep you dry and protected even in challenging conditions.

Simple Trekking Pole Setup

The Plex Solo Pro pitches quickly using a single trekking pole adjusted to approximately 52 inches (132 cm) — a height that most standard trekking poles reach without any accessories. Hikers who do not carry trekking poles can use a dedicated tent pole, or a Carbon Fiber Staff to achieve the proper setup height.

Who Is the Plex Solo Pro For?

The Plex Solo Pro is ideal for backpackers who want maximum comfort from a minimal, ultralight solo shelter. It is particularly well suited for long-distance thru-hikers and gram-counters who still value improved ventilation and user-friendly features. Compared to the Plex Solo Classic, the Pro version offers a more comfortable and convenient camping experience, making it the preferred choice for hikers who are willing to carry a few extra grams in exchange for enhanced livability on trail.

Zpacks Plex Solo Pro ultralight Dyneema DCF trekking pole tent pitched outdoors

MATERIAL: Dyneema® Composite Fabric

Made with Bio-Based Dyneema® Fiber sourced from renewable feedstock. DCF fabric made in the USA. Choose between two fabric configurations to match your priorities:

  • Lite Version
Designed for hikers who want to minimize pack weight, the Lite version features a proven 0.55 oz/sqyd DCF canopy paired with a 0.75 oz/sqyd DCF floor. This combination delivers excellent weather protection while pushing the boundaries of ultralight performance.
  • Standard Version
For those seeking increased durability and improved opacity, the Standard version uses a stronger 0.75 oz/sqyd DCF canopy and a robust 1.0 oz/sqyd DCF floor. The heavier fabric provides additional abrasion resistance and enhanced longevity, making it an excellent choice for frequent use and demanding conditions.

Guylines: 1.6 mm Z-Line Guylines with LineLoc V adjusters

Dyneema® Composite Fabric has several advantages over other materials:
  • High strength to weight ratio – the material can handle high wind force and does not tear easily.
  • Chemical free – no PFCs, PFAS, DWR or flame retardants.
  • Inherently waterproof – there is no DWR or coating to worry about wearing out. The material will not absorb significant water that would add water weight to your pack.
  • Stretch-free – the tent will stay taut all night. Nylon material by comparison can stretch and sag, especially if it gets wet.
  • Taped seams – the seams are sewn for strength then taped water tight. The tie outs have bonded reinforcements for high strength. No seam sealing will be necessary!
  • Easily repairable – any damage can easily be fixed in the field with the included Dyneema® Composite Fabric repair tape.
  • Long lasting – the expected life span of this shelter is at least one full 2500+ mile thru-hike, or many years of casual use with some care.
  • This tent is semi-transparent. In bright sunlight, a fuzzy silhouette of a person sitting inside the tent would be visible, but you cannot see any details. It has a suitable amount of privacy for changing clothes. Thicker fabric weights offer more opacity.
  • In lower light (such as in the evening or at night), you cannot see through at all. Another nice thing about this material is that you can see the outlines of trees and your surroundings for a more immersed outdoor experience.

431 g | 15.2 oz spruce green with included guy lines, sewn in linelocs, taped seams.

DIMENSIONS

Exterior: Peak height 132 cm (52") • Center width including vestibule 157 cm (62") • End width 91 cm (36") • Front vestibule depth 47 cm (18.5") • Length 244 cm (96")

Interior: Peak height 132 cm (52") • Center floor width 97 cm (38") • End floor width 71 cm (28") • Floor length 213 cm (7 ft) • Floor area 1.79 m² (19.25 sq ft) • Zipper entry height 91 cm (36")

Packed size: Rolled tight about 10 cm diameter × 28 cm tall (4" × 11"), 2.3 L. The included size Medium stuff sack (15 × 30.5 cm / 6" × 12") is intentionally large so you don't have to fight with your tent in the morning — roll it casually and let it squish flat in your backpack, with room left for stakes, a tent pole, or a groundsheet. Tents made with the heavier fabric options roll up slightly larger.

Single Trekking Pole Setup: Sets up with a single trekking pole adjusted to around 52" (132 cm) — a height most standard trekking poles reach. A dedicated tent pole can be used instead if you don't hike with poles.
Stake Requirements: Sets up with a minimum of 6 stakes, but 10 stakes are recommended in windy conditions. Stakes are not included, with a variety of ultralight stakes to choose from.
Easy Pitch Adjustment: LineLoc V adjusters let you lock in the perfect pitch. Bright yellow 1.6 mm Z-Line guylines are easy to see day or night to avoid tripping.
Versatile Storm Doors: Storm doors feature a convenient zipper entry, magnet toggles, and a peak vent for airflow. Either door can be rolled up independently and secured with magnet toggles. Leave them open on nice nights for a breeze and great views, close the upwind door to block cold wind, or close both for 360° rain protection. Store your shoes and wet backpack in the vestibule space on either side.
Double-L Screen Doors: Wide Double-L screen doors drape to block mosquitoes or roll up with magnet toggles for easy entry and access to the vestibule space on either side of the trekking pole. The floor is pinned down by the pole for convenient one-handed zipper operation.
Ultralight Insect Netting: Fully enclosed 0.67 oz/sqyd ultralight insect netting keeps even the smallest insects out and adds ventilation around the perimeter.
Recessed Bathtub Floor: The bathtub floor has tall walls and is recessed from the perimeter to keep you protected from splash-up and condensation. In calm rain or under wet trees one or both doors can stay open for airflow without water dripping into your living space.
Best for Hikers up to 183 cm (6'): The interior space is best for hikers up to around 183 cm (6') tall. Taller hikers should consider the Altaplex Pro for more head and foot room.
Integrated Mesh Pocket: An integrated mesh pocket lets you stow small items like your headlamp, glasses, or phone.
No Groundsheet Required: The durable floor material does not require a separate groundsheet. A flat groundsheet is an optional precaution.
Field-Repairable Zippers: All zipper sliders are field-replaceable, and repair tape plus two spare sliders are included with each tent.
