The Sawyer MINI is one of the most popular personal water filters for hiking, travel, camping, and emergency preparedness. Compact, lightweight, and highly versatile, it is an excellent choice for anyone who wants reliable access to clean drinking water without adding unnecessary weight to their pack.
Weighing just 65 g in the field, the second-generation Sawyer MINI fits comfortably in the palm of your hand and packs down small enough to take virtually anywhere. It is ideal for everything from family camping trips and backpacking adventures to international travel, where tap or bottled water may not always be reliable.
Advanced 0.1-Micron Filtration
The MINI uses a 0.1-micron absolute hollow-fiber membrane to filter bacteria, protozoa, and microplastics from untreated water. It removes 99.99999% of harmful bacteria, including E. coli, Salmonella, and cholera, as well as 99.9% of protozoa such as Giardia and Cryptosporidium.
Versatile Ways to Filter and Drink Water
Simply fill up the pouch at a lake, stream or river, screw the filter directly onto the pouch and
- Squeeze the bag and filter water into your water bottle or container of choice.
- Drink directly from the filter which has a built in cap for on/off functions.
- Use the supplied drinking straw to drink straight from a water source
- Screw it onto most standard disposable PET bottles with a 28 mm thread.

Compact Performance and Trusted Filtration Technology
The Sawyer MINI is the lightest and most versatile water filtration system in the Sawyer range. Its hollow-fiber membrane technology provides dependable filtration in a remarkably compact format. While its flow rate is slightly lower than the larger Sawyer Squeeze SP129, it still delivers up to 1 litre per minute and offers outstanding performance for its size.
All Sawyer filters are manufactured in the USA and use PointONE™ technology with an absolute pore size of 0.1 microns. This filtration standard exceeds strict EPA and NSF requirements for removing harmful bacteria and protozoa from untreated water.

Life Expectancy
The Sawyer MINI SP128 is rated to filter up to 100,000 gallons of water, which is approximately 378,500 litres. With proper care and storage, the filter has no fixed expiration date.
Sawyer also provides a lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects for the filter itself. The warranty does not cover accessories, physical damage, or damage caused by freezing when the filter is wet.
❄️ Cold-weather care: protect the filter from freezing
After filtering water, especially in cold weather, do not allow the filter to freeze. Freezing can damage the hollow-fiber membrane and may reduce or permanently compromise the filter's performance. This applies to most membrane-based water filters.
When using the filter in freezing conditions, keep it close to your body — for example, in a chest pocket or an inside jacket pocket — until it has been thoroughly dried. Thanks to its compact size, it is easy to carry this way while hiking.
You can also use the Neoprene pouch to provide additional insulation and help protect the filter from freezing temperatures.
