DESCRIPTION
Packing Pods are ultralight, waterproof packing cubes built for 40–60 l backpacks. Made from 100% waterproof Ultra TX fabric with a waterproof zipper and taped seams, they turn a loose pile of gear into a few flat, stackable blocks that leave no volume unused – and add an extra layer of weatherproofing inside your pack. Two sizes, two colors: Ultra TX 70 in grey and Ultra TX 95 in black.
"Pods have completely changed the way I pack my backpack. Instead of using a mix of different original stuff sacks, I now divide my gear into a few compact blocks, so I always know exactly where everything is.
At the very bottom, I use a larger pod for my sleeping bag and liner. Above that is a smaller one with spare and warm clothing, plus a few things I use inside the tent. My sleeping pad sits between them. Higher up, I keep another pod with the tent, and the food pod goes right on top. If I need something from the bottom of the pack, I can simply pull the pods out one by one instead of digging through everything.
They also make much better use of the available space and add another layer of protection against moisture, which was especially valuable during our three months in Norway. Despite being used every single day, the Outdoorline Pods made it through the entire trip without a single issue.

No volume left unused
Both Packing Pods share the same 30 × 20 cm footprint and differ only in height – 10 cm for the Small (6 l) and 15 cm for the Large (9 l). Because the footprint is identical, the pods stack flush on top of each other and fill the main compartment of a backpack like building blocks, with no wedge-shaped dead space in between. In a 40 l pack, two Large and two Small pods (30 l) typically fill the main compartment below the lid; in a 60 l pack you have room for four to five Large pods and still fit a sleeping bag underneath. Pack one pod with clothing, one with sleep layers, one with your kitchen – and you always know where everything is without emptying the whole pack.
Only few taped seams
The construction is deliberately minimal: each pod is folded from a single piece of fabric with just vertical seams taped from the inside. Fewer seams means fewer needle holes, fewer places for water to creep in and fewer things to fail on the trail. The lid closes with a waterproof zipper and a webbing grab loop lets you pull the pod out of a tightly packed backpack.
An extra weatherproof barrier inside your pack
The fabric is 100% waterproof and the zipper is waterproof too, but the two ends of the zipper are the one place where water can find its way in under sustained rain. Think of Packing Pods as a second line of defence inside your pack rather than a dry bag to strap on the outside: with a pack liner or rain cover doing the heavy lifting, the pods keep your down jacket and sleep clothes dry even if the main compartment gets damp. Note: not intended for long-term immersion underwater.
Ultra TX fabric
Packing Pods are made from Ultra TX by Challenge Sailcloth – a three-layer laminate developed specifically for small bags, pack liners and accessories. A recycled polyester ripstop face gives the fabric its diamond texture and protects against abrasion; a layer of 45° Ultra CrossPly yarns – the same UHMWPE fibre family as Dyneema – adds bias stability and makes the fabric practically impossible to tear; and a thin PET film on the inside makes it fully waterproof and lets the seams be taped.
The result is a fabric that is stiff enough to keep its box shape, tough enough to shrug off years of packing and unpacking, and light enough that a Large pod weighs less than a pair of socks. The grey pods use Ultra TX 70 (approx. 99 g/m²); the black pods use the slightly heavier Ultra TX 95.
