DESCRIPTION

Hyperlite Mountain Gear Halka 55 - is an ultralight, expedition-ready mountaineering backpack developed in collaboration with Nepalese high-altitude mountain guides, including Ang Tshering Lama. Purpose-built for extreme alpine environments, technical climbing, and high-altitude expeditions, this 55L mountaineering pack combines exceptional durability, practical organization, and reliable load-carrying performance.
Designed for climbers pushing their limits in the world's highest mountains, including expeditions above 8,000 meters, the Halka 55 offers the strength and functionality required for demanding ascents while keeping weight to just 1234 g.

Drawing on Hyperlite Mountain Gear's expertise in Dyneema® Composite Fabrics and extensive feedback from professional mountain guides, the Halka 55 is engineered to withstand the harsh realities of high-altitude mountaineering. Its construction combines Dyneema® Composite Hybrid, Fully Woven Dyneema®, and durable 210D nylon, providing excellent abrasion resistance, tear strength, and weather protection without unnecessary weight. Taped vertical side seams and reinforced attachment points further enhance durability and protection in challenging alpine conditions.

One of the Halka 55's defining features is its internal vertical daisy chain designed to secure a single oxygen bottle using compatible straps, making it particularly well suited for high-altitude expeditions where supplemental oxygen is essential. The exterior features dual ice axe pick pockets and a figure-8 crampon bungee system, allowing climbers to carry technical equipment securely and access it when needed. Four external vertical daisy chains, extended side compression straps, and a top Y-strap provide additional options for attaching ropes, climbing equipment, and other expedition essentials.

The drawstring top closure with an extendable collar and removable floating lid allows the pack to adapt to changing gear requirements. Keep the lid attached for additional storage and protection during long approaches, or remove it to reduce weight and create a more streamlined setup for technical climbing and summit attempts. The adjustable compression system helps stabilize heavier loads and allows the backpack to be compressed as equipment is removed throughout the expedition.

Built for carrying demanding alpine loads, the Halka 55 features two removable contoured aluminum stays, a padded back panel with an integrated plastic frame sheet, and comfortable Hardline with Dyneema® shoulder straps with closed-cell foam and spacer mesh. The removable and interchangeable hip belt includes a practical zippered pocket and gear loop, while the adjustable sternum strap features self-tensioning elastic and an integrated emergency whistle. With a maximum recommended load of approximately 22.7 kg (50 lbs), the Halka 55 offers dependable support for multi-day mountaineering expeditions.

Whether you're preparing for a Himalayan expedition, tackling technical alpine routes, or looking for a durable and lightweight climbing backpack for demanding mountain adventures, the Hyperlite Mountain Gear Halka 55 delivers an exceptional combination of strength, low weight, adaptability, and expedition-focused functionality. Compatible with Hyperlite Mountain Gear Pods, Stuff Sacks, Prism Crampon Bag, and Ice Screw Case, it provides a versatile foundation for organizing essential mountaineering equipment.

TIP: For better organization and protection of your expedition gear, combine the Halka 55 with Hyperlite Mountain Gear Pods, Roll-Top Stuff sacks or Drawstring Stuff Sacks. The removable lid and compression system also make it easy to adapt the backpack from a fully loaded expedition pack to a more compact summit setup.
