How to Choose a Pack Size

Your torso length, not your height, determines your pack size. We recommend the following to determine yours:

Tilt your head slightly forward to locate the bony bump at the base of your neck. (This is your 7th cervical (or C7) vertebra).
Using a flexible tape measure, have someone measure starting at that spot and running down along the curve of your spine.
Place your hands on your hips so you can feel your iliac crest, which serves as the “shelf” of your pelvic girdle. (It’s the first hard thing you feel when you run your fingers down from the sides of your ribcage.) Position your hands so your thumbs are reaching behind you.
Have your friend finish measuring at the point where the tape crosses an imaginary line drawn between your thumbs. This distance is your torso length.

If your measurement falls right in between sizes (for example, if you have a 17.0” torso, so you are right on the line between a Small and a Medium), we suggest you choose the larger torso size.

DESCRIPTION

HMG Headwall 55 - is an ultralight backcountry ski pack designed with help from mountain ski legend Cody Townsend to address the needs of active backcountry users.

This Hyperlite's new ski pack is made with extremely lightweight, durable, and weatherproof Dyneema® Composite Fabrics. It holds 55 liters and can carry upwards of 40 pounds (18kg). Total pack weight is 2.6 pounds.

Securely store your safety essentials in a quick-access outer pocket. Fully woven Dyneema fabric reinforces side panels and allows you to carry skis and snowboards without worry about abrasion and wear.

Headwall 55 is compatible with most of Hyperlite’s accessories (like shoulder pockets, stuff sacks, and other removable hip belts).

External Dual-Closure Avalanche Pocket measures 21" x 11" and features Dyneema Stretch Mesh and DCH150 Construction. Seals shut using strong and durable Hook and Loop closure and is further secured by an over-the-top Y-Strap. Designed to fit most Shovel Blades and Probes. Features an internal sleeve for organized storage of Shovel Handle and Probe.

MODULAR SIDE STRAPS

The Headwall features removable side compression straps for vertical ski carry. The horizontal straps allow for multiple carrying methods and the dual buckle allows you to place the buckle where you want to avoid any potential ejections. This setup also allows for a vertical board carry for hot laps.
