DESCRIPTION
AlpenFlow Fuel Transfer Valve
Move your fuel between canisters effortlessly with a tool that weighs less than a penny. The AlpenFlow Fuel Transfer Valve is an ultralight, smart, and eco-friendly solution for backpackers who want to minimize waste and maximize efficiency.
Born on the Pacific Crest Trail in 2023, the AlpenFlow was designed after witnessing piles of half-empty, rusting fuel canisters left behind in hiker boxes. With this tiny yet mighty device, you can share, borrow, or consolidate fuel ensuring every drop gets used.
Whether you’re splitting fuel among friends, topping off a near-empty canister, or combining leftovers before a thru-hike, the AlpenFlow makes it simple, safe, and sustainable.
WEIGHT: 2.4 grams (0.09 oz)
SPECIFICATION
- Compatible with all threaded isobutane canisters (EN 417 standard)
- 100% made in the USA
- Uses temperature difference (refrigerator or sunlight) to drive fuel transfer

How to use it
Warm Your Donor Canister and/or Cool Your Recipient Canister
- This transfer requires a pressure difference to push the upper liquid fuel down into the lower canister
- The donor canister can be warmed in the sun, never use an oven or flame
- The larger the difference, the faster the transfer will run
- Place Warm Canister on TOP, Cool Canister on BOTTOM (no threading needed)
- Press Down Hard for 5 - 10 seconds
- Repeat as Needed, especially if filling a near-empty lower canister.
- Once the warm donor fuel mixes & heats the lower liquid fuel sufficiently, the transfer will slow and eventually stop.
⚠️ Warnings & Safety
- To mitigate the risk of liquid butane expanding when canister is heated, never fill beyond the original fill level (~80%)
- Fuel canisters do not meet D.O.T. requirements for commercial transportation after refilling (i.e., it's illegal for businesses to transport refilled canisters)
- Never use a flame or oven to heat canisters
- Never fill canisters with pure propane, and only transfer "winter mix" fuel (70% butane / 30% propane) into canisters rated for winter mix fuel.
