It was founded in 2005 by Triple Crown thru-hiker Joe Valesko, who has walked well over 10,000 miles on the Appalachian, Pacific Crest and Continental Divide Trails and beyond. Joe started by hand-sewing his own gear simply because nothing on the market was light enough - and two decades later, with a team of more than a hundred, he still designs and tests every product himself, in-house in Florida. The Duplex is the icon of the line: a sub-600-gram trekking-pole DCF tent that has been voted the top ultralight shelter by Appalachian Trail thru-hikers and is a fixture on long trails worldwide.
